TOKIO, Aug. 5
Official advices hare been received here confirming that extended successes have been gained by the Oiiin|ese Communists, which the Nationalist Government’s forces have been unable to check.
Four Japanese destroyers have left Sasebo for Shanghai for the protection of the Japanese Yangtsze ports.
MISSIONARIES WARNED
COMM UNISTS BRUTALITY
(Received this day at 10.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Aug. 5.
Due to the very real Communist menace existing in China, missionaries have been ordered to make immediate preparations to evacuate interior (stations. Recently Communist troops captured two niossionaries, Misses Nettleton and Harrison. They cut off the former’s fingers on one hand and sent them to a church missionary society demanding a huge ransom.
