MONDAY AUG. 4th. The Committee met at 7 p.m. Present: Messrs A. C. Armstrong (Chairman), Sweney, Breeze, Shannon, Pedder, Chesterman and Conning (lion, sec)/ An apology was made for the absence of Mrs Wilson. The minutes were confirmed and'outward correspondence approved. INWARD GORRESBON DENCE From Dental Nurse (Miss Maloney) notifying,for July 123 attendances, 362 operations. From Miss James 114 attendances, 399 operations—Received. From Mrs J. Wliitiskie, Harihari, in refrence to* dental attentions.—Received and attention given, Chairman’s action being approved.. From Caretaker, replying to complaint in reference to. dental clinics. Received. From R. Wild thanking Committee for good wishes on re-election.—Receiv-ed. From Director of Dental Hygiene, Wellington, stating the application for 'permanent appointment of two dental nurses bad been noted; in regard to private schools, these are not necessarily to have treatment, but their prim ary departments are eligible for inclusion in the dental group along with State Schools as opportunity offers. No such school would be .included without the recommendation of your Committee—Received and filed for reference, i ' '' From Education Board notifying the intention to terminate contract to children in from Blue Spur,—Received. From Director of Dental Schools approving jub-distiict for Kumara S bool, subject to Kumara Committee being reSDOnsible for all expenses incurred. —Received and Kumara Committee to be advised. From Hokitika Borough Council notifying grant of £2 for dental clinic.— Received with thanks. Accounts as scheduled were passed for payment. The Visiting Committee (Messrs Redder and Sweney) reported on some minor requirements.—Received. From Rector (Mr J. L. Menzies) reporting roll number: Primary' 164 boys, 155 girls—3l9; average attendance 297.1.! Secondary: 53 boys. 49 oirls—lo2; average attendance 97.6. The School bad recently been examined by Inspector Irwin, fuel fund contributions £8 ,3s od.—Received. It was resolved to apply to the Westland County Council for a donation to the dental clinic fund. Messrs Breeze and Chestermnn were annointed visitors for the month.
