CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD.
The biennial election of the Canterbury Education Board was concluded yesterday. The voting resulted:— CHRISTCHURCH URBAN AREA. John J. Hurley 103* Sidney Roger Evison 94* Ernest H. Andrews 88 Albert, E. Haynes 19 MIDDLE WARD. William A. Banks 309* Thomas C. Smith 23 TIM Alt U URBAN AREA John W. Preen (unopposed)* NORTH-WEST WARD. Richard Wild (unopposed)* SOUTH WARD Stanley Smith (unopposed)* *Elected. A well-known member Mr E. H. Andrews, was defeated. Of the twelve members of the hoard, six retire every two yeras. One member from each ward retires. The retiring members on this occasion were Messrs W. H. Winsor and E. H. Andrews (Christchurch Urhah Area), J. W. Preen (Timaru, re-elect-ed), R. Wild (North-west Ward, reelected), W. A. Banks (Middle Ward, re-elected), and T. Hughes (South Ward). As now constituted, the board will be Messrs 0. S. Thompson (chairman), Walter Johnson, S. R. Evison, and J. J. Hurley (Christchurch), W. A. Banks and W. P. Spencer (Middle Ward), J. W. Preen and James G. Gow (Timaru), Richard Wild and H. Bignell (Northwest Ward), Stanley Smith and G. W. Armitage (South Ward).
