In the case of the Reefton-Maruia Road the surface had to be recondition- I ed?i,n order to cop,e f Avith the detour traffic consequent on the earthquake. Although the length of road from Springlands Junction to County Boundary has not been declared a Main Highway it has been maintained by ther Board as a detour road. The exnonditure for the year ended 31st. March last on the length of 44 miles i frqm Reefton to County Boundary was as under:—
