During an engagement between the America n river bun boat Palos and Communists in the vicinity of Changsha ,fivc American sailors were wounded There are no details. It appears that the Communists opened fire on tlie Palos which replied, killing thirty.

News is received indicating that Communists are adiva'ucirig towards the southern bank in tile vicinity of Kiukiang, consequently imperilling Killing, the foreign holiday resort, en route. Some four hundred holiday makers have been advised immediately to evacuate. Tlie British destroyers Somme and Sirdar were hurriedly ordered from Wcihaiwei to Nanking to relieve -other, gunboats destined for upriver ports.- The position is pregnant with tragic possibilities..

SHANGHAI, July 31. Following the evacuation, . looting and burning of Changsha on Monday. Communists armies repeated their actions at Nanchang and Nanking and are now advancing on Kiukiang, necessitating the evacuation of all foreigners at Ruling, a summer mounr tain resort, by the express orders of the British . authorities. Two British destroyers were sent to Kiukiang.
