SYDNEY,, July 31. The Nerhudda was built in 1919 for the "British India Steam Navigation . Cov., and came to Australia in May I under the auspices of • the Federal Steam Navigation Coy. She loaded wool , and general cargo at Melbourne, Port Pirie and Fremantle, and sailed from Fremantle en July Ist. under command of Oapt. J. Blencowe.

' Her stokehold and engine room are ' -flooded and the-hther holds dry. There is "no loss of life.. The dry-cargo is in- . tact; " The steamer " Nakilf” is proceeding to her assistance.
A SERIOUS PLIGHT,
London, July 3i. A Gibraltar message states the Nerbudda’fj is under seven feet. The ingress .of water into number three hdld is partly;,stopped, but it is slowly, rising in number four. The position "is hopeful if a salvage steamer arrives quickly.
