. The annual Hockey tournament for the Newman Cup took place in Cass Square on Wednesday under ideal weather conditions. The games .were were well contested the final match between Hokitika A and Kokataln. a being specially fast and interesting. The following were the results: Kokatahi A. beat Hokitika B. 1 goal to 0.
Hokitika. A heat Kokatahi C 3 goals to d. ■ ’"■ ■ ■
Kokatahi A beat Kokatahi B 1 goal to 0. ;■/’
Matches were here played between beaten teams to give Kokatahi A a spell.
Hokitika B beat Kokatahi C 1 goal to 0.
Hokitika A beat Kokatahi B 1 goal to 0.
In the final match Hokitika A beat Kokatahi Aby 2 goals to 0. Both teams consisted of very fast players and a good hard game was witnessed. Hokitika players played with better combination and were attacking from the start of the game hut good defensive work by Miss Marshall saved a few goals until Mrs Butson found the net with a good shot, and later secured .another goal. In the second spell Kokatahi broke away and looked like scoring when Miss Monk took the ball to Hokitika’s circle, but O. ton ovortok her and stopped a sure goal. Further play carried the bnII to Kokntnhi’s circle hut no further score was added,'
