BONDI SURF TRAGEDY

(Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, July 30. A surf-bather, Herbert Stephens aged 30, was seized with cramp at Bondi Bench, and was drowned. His friend, Robert Wilson, aged 22, made repeated plucky- attempts to rescue Stephens, and was himself nearly drowned. Eventually he was brought from the water unconscious.
