BODY BADLY MAULED,

(Received this day at 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 30. The “Daily Mail’s” Rangoon correspondent says: Burmese carriers after many forced marches brought the news of the finding of Hook’s body, terribly maulted, either by a tiger or a leopard. Although the body was little more than a skeleton, there was no doubt of the identity .He was found naked. The expedition wrapped the body in ground sheets and took it to Prone for interment. The searchers had a gruelling time generally, waist deep and, even chest deep in water of raging streams. It is recalled that Matthews left Hook on the bank of a mountain river, which rose and washed him away. Hook undoutedly was then dead. A curious coincidence is that the body was eventually left high and dry by the receding torrent, only a furlong from the spot where Matthews met the villagers.
