SUGAR INDUSTRY
AUSTRALIA’S PROTECTION.
(Australian Press Association) CANBERRA, July 30. Mjjpj The Federal Government has decided to appoint a committee of inquiry into j the Australian sugar industry, the operation of the sugar agreement of the embargo on imported sugar, before renewing the agreement, which will shortly be expiring. The Committee of Inquiry consist of employers, employees, .manufacturers, consumers, fruit growers, jam manufacturers, and others.u The Prime Minister; informed the V House, in reply to critics, that it had .been claimed that the sugar industry * .was .being unsatisfactorilyconducted; that land values were inflated; that the industry was uneconomic, and that the control of the industry was rapidly passing from the British race.
