DUNEDIN OPOSSUM SKIN SALE. Messrs M. Houston and Co. have received advices from their principles as follows: At the sale held on Friday last, there were practically no Orders at all in the market, and hut for the operations of one buyer who took about half the offering on speculation, there is no doubt that prices would have been even lower than those realised, which were fully 60 per cent below those of last season. This rep*,’ resents a decline of from 8s to 9s per skin; on the average priceis of last year. It is their opinion, in view of the large stocks .still held in London anu the large quantities which will come out of Australia this year, that the position is very unsound, and that prices null fall still lower. Indeed, they will not he surprised to see 'c further decline of Is to Is 6d at next sale. As far as thirds and small were concerned, in many cases these did not fetch enough to pay the royalty and numerous lots could not get a . bid. Prices realised were as follows Super blacks up to 10s 3d, first blacks 7s to 8s 6d, second blacks 4s to 6s. third blacks 6d to Is 3d, small blacks 9d to 2s; super darks up to 9s, first ■ darks 7s to Bs, second darks 3s 6d to ss, third darks 6d to Is 3<}; super browns up to Bs, first browns 6s to Gd, second browns .3s to 3s 6d, third browns 6d to Is; super grey up to Bs, first grey 6s 6d to 7s 9d, second grey 3s to 4s 6d, third greys 6d to Is 3d : super rustys up to 6s 6d, first rustys 4s to 5s 6d, (second rustys 2s 6cl to 45,. third rustys 6d to Is;.super reds up to 5s 6d, first reds 3s to 4s 6d, second reds 2s to 3s', third reds 6d to Is.
