CLEMENCEAU’S TERRIER
A REMARKABLE DOG. A remarkable story of a clog belonging to. the late M. Cle-meanceau, which used to hire cabs is being told in Paris (says the correspondent in that city of the London “Daily Telegraph”). M Clcmeneeati’s dog was a fox-ter-rier. This animal, as independent as its master, used to go for long rumblings about Paris. When it was tired it would jump into a statiouaiy cab find sit down. As often ns the drivel turned it out it returned, until the driver became sufficiently interested to examine its collar—which bore the name of its famous master. The driver, anticipating a- liberal tip, invariably drove it home. It is perhaps natural that many stories should be told illustrating the intelligence of what foreigners regard as fbe national dog. the poodle that used to call for its master at a co.r- ---| tain cafe every morning. One evening lit failed to appear, and nothing was I seen of it for a year, j Twelve months later it walked into I the-cafe at the customary hour, and I went straight to its old master. Tt | proceeded to perform tricks that only j circus dogs perform—to explain, no i doubt, that it bad been stolen by a j trainer of performing animals.
