case Curious breach of promise heard in London recently. Came out in evidence that the lady objected to her intended smoking and said he must choose between her and liis pipe. He chose the pipe! Whereupon she sued him for breach, and claimed a thousand pounds damages. The judge when summing up said h e believed with R. L. Stevenson that no woman should marry a non-smoker. Verdict for plaintiff—damages one farthing! The lady will be wiser next time! Smoking’s all right. It’s the tobacco that’s so often all wrong.
