SERGEANT BONISCH. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 24. Although Senior-Sergeant Bonisch, of Wellington, has been duly reinstated, the Minister of Justice, Hon. Cobbe holding that the penalty of dismissal was too Severe for breaches of .regulations fniiicli were committed, some form of punishment had to be imposed. This, it is understood, will take the form of the loss of & certain amount of seniority. The Sergeant’s actual rank, however, win not be affected by this penalty. DEATH IN CELL. CHRISTCHURCH, July 24. A man believed to be William Kruse or Cruise, a labourer was arrested yesterday for drunkenness and died during the night in a police cell at New Brighton. JUDGE’S COMMENT. AUCKLAND, July 24. “I think it is high time we had another court, when ah expensive court like this is worried with auoli infernally stupid things as this; It is about aa stupid a thing as I’ve heard for; a long time.” This strong comment .was made in the Arbitration Court this morning by Judge Frazer, Mien: the Inspector of Awards sought an interpretation of the Shop Assistants’: Award as it related to 1 pattern clerks in drapery departments. Judge Frazer said the question was whether sample work might be considered shop assistant’s work or office work, so the Court has solemnly to decide whether a girl who chops up a few samples is to get 50 per cent, more than 52s Gd. “Oh, well, I had better not say too much,” concluded the Judge. “Wh will consider the question and give a decision in writing.”
