Convicted of assault and causing grievous bodily harm to Constable Grant at Papa (Savaii) on June 23rd last, five Samoans were sentenced. Famuitato and Tatematua were each given five years and Vaimaa, Faalu and Kolose each eighteen months, all hard labour. The case was heard before Mr Luxford, S.M., and four assessors. SUSPECTED HOUSE BURNING. APIA, July 23. There was a suspected attempt to burn out the house of Chief Afamasaga early this morning. Only slight damage was done.
