Cardinal Bourne (Primate of England/ conducted a “Te Deum” at Westminster Cathedral to-day on the occasion of the centenary of Belgian independence. King George- was represented bv Lord Granard. The Belgian Ambassador to Britain and his staff were present. The Prime Minister, Air Ramsay MacDonald, to-dav ent to the Belgian Prime Minister the following telegram:—“On the occasion of the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the independence of Belgium, I send Your Excellency a message of friendly goodwill on behalf of His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom. The people of this country, who ' have shared Belgium’s sorrows, wish aLo to share in her joys; and I am confident that T interpret the feelings of all classes of the British public when I beg Your Excellency to accept our heartiest good wishes for the continued hajppineks and prosperity kxf your great country.”
