EGYPT’S ATTITUDE. NEW PREMIER’S STATEMENT. [United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] ALEXANDRIA, July 18. In a. verbal note replying to a communication from the British Prime Minister, Mr Ramsay MacDonald, Sidky Pasha, Premier of Egypt, refers to the former’s statement that the British Government does not intend to be used as an instrument of attack against the constitution. Commenting, Siclky pasha says this declaration would be justified if Egypt had solicited RrL tain’s aid, but, in the absence of any such request—which with Egypt, in the position of an independent state, will not be made—the declaration can only be interpreted as an interference i» affairs over which Egypt has sovereign prerogatives. Sulky Pasha expressed regret for the incidents cabled on July 15th. He stresses the fact that the safety and ..the interests of foreigners will immediately be given attention,,and he suggests, in view of the restoration order, that the presence of the British warships in Egyptian waters is no longer necessary.
