The man who tries to maintain a religious character in this way would be like the old Spartan who tried to make a corpse stand, and who had to cry at last: “It wants something within!” Christianity wants isometliing within, and has it. \ •X ■X- -X- X Nothing will cause another to lose confidence in you more readily than a broken promise A promise should be a sacred duty, just as a debt must be paid. , * -X- -X- * What is the beginning ? Love. What the course? Love. What the goal? The goal is Love. Search sky or earth. There’s nothing, out of Love. Hath perpetual worth. All things flag, but only Love; All things fail or flee. There is nothing left but Love, Worthy you or me.
