The owners have been advised that the steamer Targis is on fire in midAtlantic, east of Bermuda. The Rang,itata rescued the whole of the passengers and crew. The Rangitata, homeward bound from New Zealand, sighted the German steamer on fire in three hold?, coal bunker, engine room and boiler room. She hastened to the rescue and stood by at the captain’s request until the Targis filled and sank.
