HINKLER’S ATTEMPT.

Advice lias been received from London that Bert Hinkler will, attempt to fly from England to Australia and round this continent, and then back to England within one month. Hinkler is using a tri-motored Fokker plane with Avro engines. He will be accompanied by Captain Mclntosh.

The service which lias been in fulgurated for the utilising for aii mail services in Australia, Canada, and United States, and the KaracliiLondon route,. has been very well pat ronised according to statements made by officials of the Post and Telegraph Departments. Philatelists have been active, but the officials do not know to what extent. Nevertheless, the idea of using the air mail is growing and the amount of mail for conveyanceby air services is increasing. Especially valuable' is the Ivarachi-Lon-don 'service, which : saves from three to ten days, when considered alongside the Vancouver route, the saving varying! according to the time between departure of the two mails, and the ’steamer connection between Australia and India.
