BE OF GOOD CHEEK.

FAITH. When Thy fierce tempests rage around my soul— When Thy encircling seas rise mountains high, Lash’d by the fears—the doubts—which cross Thy sky Like flying scud escaped (from Thy control—When round my heart, sunken in deepest dole. Thy sorrows thicken—still I see Thee nigh—.l know the clouds will break —the griefs will fly— When Thou hast tried my faith from pole to pole.

I know that Thou art Truth —that Truth is just— And storms and pains are but the proofs of Thee; Thy glory needs the shadow of our night, Thy Ijove -our yearnings, and Thine arm our trust; Before Thy face the false must ever flee, For Thou art GOD—all-powerful and all bright. W. E. Thomson.
