LATE LOCALS.
A special meeting of the Hokitika Borough Council was held at noon today. Present: The Mayor (Mr G. A. ; ■Perry), Messrs J. King, T. W. Duff, A. C. Armstrong, and D. J. Evans. The Treasurer presented the audited balance sheet certified correct by the Controller and Auditor General, and on the motion of the Mayor second" ed by Mr King, the balance sheet " was received and settled. The tender of \V. E. Richards for printing the balance sheet was accepted. Regarding work for unemployed soldiers the extension of Rolleston Street drain was agreed to and it was resolved to have the levels taken, and the work put in hand as soon as possible. The matter was deft ■ to the Town Clerk to consult with Mr J. C. Macfarlane. regarding the levels for the extended drain, the concrete pipes for which are now in stock.
