PROTESTS AT TAXATION

Protests against Federal Budget , taxation, proposals continue throughout I the Conjmonwealth. An association has been formed in Sydney to conduct a State-wide campaign against the excessive taxation.
Mr Scullih says the Government is seeking to achieve in the best possible way, -stability in the nation’s finances, and to bring about a- position where Australia can pay her creditors and look the world in the face.

Sir Otto Niemeyer, the noted financial authority, who was invited to Australia by the Federal Ministry, arrived V the liner Cathay from London.

ECONOMY CUTS
MELBOURNE, July 15,
The State Ministry is' undertaking a policy of drastic economy throughout all the Government departments. Tt is expected all tlie increments to public servants and teachers will be stopped in the current year, and the reducing of certain salaries will be attempted.

SYDNEY, July 13
The ‘‘Herald” says it is generally thought in political circles that a crisis must arise early next year, when the Parliamentary session is resumed after the return of Mr Scullin from the Imperial Conference. This is the result of the treatment given by the Senate to several Government proposals.
