TALE OF SEA
— A STAR VING CREW. (Australian Press Association) (Received this day at 9.40 a.m.> BRISBANE, July 14. Officers of tlie Japanese steamer Tangb Mam reported when the vessel was two days out from Thursday Island, a native fishing boat was sighted flying signals of distress. The stearrior hove to and it was found nine Malays on hoard were starving. The natives told a pitiful story that their 'mat bad been becalmed for a long neriod at Bird Island and when the position became desperate, the majority the the crew numbering 40, were left ashore and the remainder set out to obtain assistance. The famished men were supplied with medicine, food and water. '
