BARRED FROM N. Z.

FILM VERSION

(By Telegraph- -Per Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, July 11

The war story, “All Quiet on the Western Front,” will not be seen in picture form in the Dominion. The Government Film Censor, Mr W. A. Tanner, this-siveek viewed the picture version of Enrich Maria Remarque’s story. He has refused a permit for its release. The Film Censor said to a reporter that the only merit that the picture might possess was its appeal to peace, but, in all else, he could not see that it conformed to entertainment that would be ,to the advantage of people in the Dominion, He felt his responsibility at refusing a permit for the showing of the picture in New Zealand, and he was not sorry that an appeal had ibeen lodged against his decision.

A.t a meeting of the Appeal Board to-dav, the Board upheld the , Censor’s verdict.
