NEW INSTRUMENTS.
Music of a quality of tone hitherto unknown has been produced by means of a beam of light by physicists of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The new instrument is played similarly to a paino, but photo-electric cells and glass discs are substituted for wires. It- produces synthetic musical (sounds, which, according to Professor . Arthur Hardy and Professor Sherwood Brown, the inventors, differ from and are superior to any sound made by a string or. wind instrument.
