HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD
THURSDAY, JULY 10th. The Board met a,t 4.45 p.m. Present: Messrs AI. H. Houston (Chairman), \V. E. Richards, E. W. Heenan, and D. Stuart. An apology was made for the absence of Dr Teichelmann. Tlie minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved.
INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From - Statistician, acknowledging returns.—Received. From Nancarrow and Co. in regard to rental of pile-driving plant, and stating some necessary parts were missing when received.-—Received. From Town Clerk, Hokitika, in reference to collection of annual rates. —Received. It was resolved that the usual rate be struck with a rebate of o per cent, if paid promptly, and interest at 10 per cent, to be charged on overdue accounts.—Received. From Marine Department in reference to light on extreme end of south wall.—Received. A reply was forwarded stating the light would not be further used there.
The signalman’s report notifying a depth of 9ft. on the bar was received.
Accounts amounting to £348 were passed for payment. The Chairman reported that the ‘Public Works Engineer had visited to advise on the river position. No report had yet been received as a result of the visit.
It was resolved to defer action pending receipt of the .report. A question affecting rental of skid sections was referred to Mr Hee,nan and the Secretary to arrange. The Board rose at 5.15 p.m.
