The Norfolk bye-election, owing to Buxton’s elevation to the Peei-age, resulted:—Lady Noel Buxton 14,841; Cook 14,642.
ECONOMIC COUNCIL

The Prime .Minister presided 10-clay over a meeting at his official residence, of the Economic Advisory Council, which was set up in January to oiumate the work of departments concerned with economic and industrial .and to advise the Government on trade matters generally. In addition to leading members of the Government including the Chancellor of the Exchequer and President ■ tif the Board of Trade, several distinguished economists and prominent industrialists are members of the Council.
The Imperial sub-committee of the Council was appointed some months ago under the chairmanship of a wellknown steel magnate. Sir Arthur Balfour, who is a member of the' council.
