STEAMER STRIKES ROCK

WELLINGTON, July 11

The secretary of the General Post ■Office advises the following message--was received by the Wellington Radio station at 8.35 a.m. to-day:—“Signals [interpreted from the Adelaide Radio at 2.37 a.m. indicate the steamer Iron CrOwp, call sign V.J.D.K. struck a rock and was sending out distress 'Signals. The position, was 34.59; S. 136. 55. half east. At 3.21 a.m. the ‘"Adelaide (Radio advised all stations that the Iron Crown had weathered 1 the rock and was not then in need of ‘assistance. At’4.3o a.m. the Adelaide Radio advised all stations that the Iron Crown bad made about a mile and a half Westward of the rock and was all “blear mow.
