CHRISTCHURCH, July 9
At ;i mass meeting of the employees of the Addington Workshops to-day, the following resolution was carried:
That this mass meeting of thej'etnjg "ployees df Adtilngton Workshops enter an emphatic protest against the continued dismissals of railway employees. We respectfully call upon '■the Government and the Minister of Railways, in particular, to show some ••justification for denying aged men d" tho service, and others, the right to live; and,; further, that the Hon. Minister he called upon to give some explanation for the retention of such a large army of high-salaried officers in his Department; whilst he is slaughtering the rank and file, in spite of long service and of the grave position existing regarding unemployment.”
