NEW STATIONS ASTER. FOR DUNEDIN.
DUNEDIN, July 7
ilr George Greig, senior business agent at the Railway Department’s head office, Wellington, has begh appointed stationmaster at Dunedin in succession to Mr Iv. J. Chambers, who retired from the position in April last.
Mr Greig joined the staff as a cadet at Timaru in 1893, and was stationed at various towns in Canterbury till 1905 when ho was appointed assistant relieving officer at Invercargill. In 1906 he was transferred to Nightcaps as stationmaster, and later to Middlemarch in a similar capacity. In 1909 lie was promoted to clerk at Oama.ru, from there he went to Clinton, where ho remained till 1911, when he was appointed .stationmaster at Wingatui. In 1918 he was transferred to the North Island, where he was in charge or several staions, finally being appointed to Newmarket in 1922. A year later he was transferred to Dunedin, t*» traffic inspector, and at the opening of the Department’s commercial branch in 1925 he was appointed local business agent, which position he held until 1929, when he was appointed to the head office, Wellington, as senior business agent.
Mr Greig’s ready tact, courtesy, and willingness to assist at all times have won him the regard of all with whom he has come in contact, and his appointment should be a popular one amongst the travelling public generallv, and the business community in particular.
