It: was tea fried down past one house, but luckily the occupants of the next house heard the cries of the women, and went to their rescue: They were in, very, grave danger, and had to be hauled ashore with ropes. Tn another few minutes they would have been . washed put to sea.,, ; _ The bride’s ’trousseau and about £2O ; in money, besides other luggage, were left in the car, but all was retrieved. The money, was intact, but the trousseau and luggage were all ruined by muddy water. The car was left lying on its side in the creek, covered with Johris. Tts passengers; went on to Coromandel in the afternoon. , .$'
