50 INFANTS DEAD

BERLIN, July 6
Fifty infants treated by the Calmette process are now dead in Lubeick. The Govern men ,fc’ t s investigators are satisfied the blame is not attached to the Calmette Pasteur Institute. jib is thought that either by accident .or carelessness, the cultures became polluted. The investigators are hampered as Professor Deykes, head of the Lubeck hospital, threw away all the preparations ready in the laboratory, when the first infant died, as he wished to destroy the source of further harm, hut he forgot to call in the supplies already in the hands of private physicians who continued to administer them to infants. Devices’ conduct is the subject of a special investigation ordered by. the public prosecutor.
