Rain fell solidly all Saturday night and Sunday, culminating in a cloudburst about 2 p.m. when over three inches of rain fell. Two streams, the Hape and the. Karaka burst' their banks and the flood waters streamed through the tpwn invading residences,)' some of which had over a foot of water over the floors. - Fortunately, high tide being at 3.30, the water was not banked up for long, but left 1 heavy mild deposit everywhere. -

La;rge slips Are reported om the Tauno-Coroglen . Road. The tunnel of the borough water-race collapsed, carrying away about half a chain of fluming. Water power users will be unable to run till this is repaired.
