WELLINGTON, July 4. Tlic House of Representatives met tliis morning. The debate on the Acldress-in-Reply was continued by Mr Waite, who vigorously opposed the Defence Force retrenchments, urging the adequacy ot the system should be maintained.

Mr Semple dealt with Arapuni, de daring that unless samples of the solid rock strata could be produced from the vicinity there was no hope of saving the scheme. He urged no'more money should;be spent pending investigation by competent experts. , ' WELLINGTON, July 4. The debate was continued by Messrs Broad foot-, Young and Munro. The House adjourned at 1 :p.m. till 2.30 this afternoon.
