LATE LOCALS.

The Auckland Rugby Union has already received £3OO to book seats for the third test match at Eden Park on July 26th. The management committee of the union decided that all booking, both for the Auckland game and the test, should be conducted through Whitts’s Sports Depot, Exchange Lane, tire booking for the test opening on July 14tli. In adherence to its own decision the union, has had to return cheejues, postal notes and moneyorders that have come flooding in each day. A covering note explaining the booking arrangements has been, enclosed with the returned subscription in each case. The opinion that the disinfection of schools every week was not necessary was expressed by the medical officer of health in Auckland. Dr H. Chesson in a letter received at the meeting of the Taka puna Borough Council on Wednesday evening. The Tnkapuna and Milford Schools’ Committees had asked the council to obtain advice on the matter. Dr. Chesson said the disinfection or fumigation of schools was only necessary when there was an outbreak of infectious disease. On the other hand, no-hooks, pencils, pens or other material should be used in common by the children. All the, children’s articles should he kept separate. Placticine was dangerous, if it was shared by the pupils. The use. of a common drinking cup was another source of danger. In the case of school drinking fountains they should be arranged so that a cup was not necessary. The children should also have their own towels. The general principle was that soap, water, and the scrubbing brush, combined with sunlight and fresh air formed the best disinfecting combination for school rooms.
