WELLINGTON, July 1. . “It is my pleasure to lay before you certain facts that will no doubt convince you that the movement inaugurated. two years ago to establish.; a dominion ' organisation ’' of County Clerks was fully justified,” said- Air • > F. C. Perry, of Te Kuiti; Clerk to the Waitoc.io County Council, at ’the outset of his presidential address to the ,N.Z. Institute of County Clerks (Inc.) to-day. About sixty of the Institute’s members attended, reprseehting counties from one end of New Zealand to. the other. The lull membership now stands at 104, with 51 associate members.

Air Harper, of the Department of Internal Affairs, attended the conference on behalf of the Minister, and addressed the. members on local body government, local body legislation and superannuation. Air A. E. Jull (President) and'C. AV. Talbot (member of the Executive) were present also as representatives of the New Zealand Counties’ . Association. They spoke briefly, on matters of common interest to teach organisation. For simplicity, the Institute is divided into seven branches—Auckland,' Wellington, Taranaki, West Coast, Canterbury, Alarlborough and Otago-Southland. Representatives of each branch reported to the conference on their activities during the past two years.

The election of officers resulted as follows: .President, Air F. C. Perry; AUce-Presidonts, Alessrs F. H. Hudson (Levin) and G. Kelly (Ashburton); Secretary-Treasurer, Mr J. AV. Harding (Tlawora); Executive, Alessrs A. E. Ashcroft (Auckland), R. O. Ellis (New Plymouth), H. 11. Richardson (Rangitikoi), B. G. Signall (AVairoa), ]>. J. Evans (Hokitika), A. A. Renddio (Alosgio), R. K. Gardiner (AVaitaki). The President, Vice-Presidents and Secretary were re-elected unopposed',.
