TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
CONFERENCE RECOMMENDATIONS

WELLINGTON, July 1
The Minister of Transport (Hon. Taverner; states the recent traffic accident conference recommended that licenses of drunken or negligent drivers who cause accidents shall be compulsorily cancelled for a minimum period of six months. In the case of drunkenness, for three months. In negligence, for second and subsequent offences, or driving without licenses, the Court ibe empowered to inflict imprisonment.
It also recommended that the speed limit he 45 miles per Hour in rural localities and 25 miles per hour in urban.
In regard to level crossings, it recommended that growth even on private 'property, he compulsorily removed. The Conference favoured a uniform system of traffic law enforcement.
