Although 'a knighthood has been conferred on Dean Inge, lie will not receive the* title .of ,Sir. or Accolade from the King, Gnurcii tradition ?:e----ing against a cleric assuming a title of liiiighthood, although other titles are permissable. ■ In his 70th. year tne “gloomy dean” is. not likely- to lament. He is too deeply engaged in’ a fierce controversy on the phases of, modern life. Although iio will, never be Sir he will remain a. Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
