The technical;;, advisory committee under the chairmanship of.vMr-Breeze, Chief Surveyor of investigated the cause 'of 'flie ..trouble which developed in the engine-room of the Government motor-ship Maui Pom are, and has made a discovery which will enable the fault to bo-'*per-manently rectified.
The. principal fuel tanks run beneath the' two main engines, and the investigators found large areas of loose riveting,. They consider there has been ’faulty workmanship, ’■ ’because the rivets were packed with some material w-hifh has fallen out. A

In ■addition. .to renewing faulty rivets, it is intended to provide added strengthening ’to .remove all possibility of vibration of the main engines while under load.
