SAMOANS IN COUNCIL

•APIA, June 25. At a meeting . .of the Legislative Council yesterday, .the Administrator in welcoming the nominated nativo members, Malietoa and Mataafa, said the occasion was. an. historic one in the life of Samoa, as it was the first time that a Samoan had sat in Counoil.
His remarks were endorsed by all Councillors.
One new Hill whiph facilitates court work in the collection of personal taxes, was passed. -. Patrick Hercikley . Fitzherbert who had been in practice as a barrister in Western Samoa had his license cancelled bv the Adminisrator. He leaves by the Tofua on Saturday for Auckland.
On 23rd of June, a European' constable was attached and seriously injured by Samoans at Papa, a. lonely isolated village on the south coast -of Savaii. The constable who was alone and armed, but did not use- his arms, is now in Apia hospital, after a long sea voyage. A police party is dealing with the situation.
