The animals looked well after a week on grass here, but met with only a spiritless response lroin the buyers. They sold about 30 lower than the first of the draft. Bee! was yarded in quantities far in excess of local requirement, and fell in price by Cl a head all round, the decline in the case of lighter sorts being up to £1 10s. The fat sheep pens contained 5750 head, a yarding la ger than any other for some time. In consequence of the over-supply, values declined all round, particularly for the fighter sorts. Good quality sheep sold fairly well, but‘inTighter sorts there was a fall of up to 2s in the case oi wethers and up to Is fid for ewes. Fat lambs, which were penned in surpris'n9'!y large numbers for this season, met a brisk sale throughout.■ and fully maintained the advanced levels of last week. The yarding was very mixed but contained some outstanding lines which were keenly sought after by all buyers. Porkers were forward in large numbers, and met a slofv sale, values declining before the end of the sale by 10,s a head. Baconers were not in such heavy supply, and sold well to keen bidding at rates up to those ruling recently. Beef—There were 150 fat cattle varded. The quality was mixed. First grade were £l, and second grade £1 10s per head easier. Adult sheep.—There were 2,300 yarded. There was a small attendance, and a dragging sale. AVothers sold at 255, best cross bred ewe.s from 19s to 23s fid, other grades 11s to 17s fid; best fine woolled 18s to 23s others 4s to 15s. Mutton. —There was a large yarding, and the sale was irregular in places. Values declined 2s to 3s per

head. Wethers tsbld : Extra to 31s prime 26s to 295, medium 22s to 255, light 18s 4d to 21s; ewes, extra to 25s prime 19s to 225, medium 16s to 18s light 12s to 11s. Eat lambs.—There were 3,797 yarded. The quality was mixed, there being mostly light and plain. There was keen competition. Extra sold to s Id. prime 25s 6d to 2Ss, medium Ms 1o 24s I'd, light; 18s to 21s. Store lambs.—There were 1000 yardd. The -sale was irregular.
