DEAN O’DONNELL’S JUBILEE

ASHBUBTON, June 21

Dean O’Donnell, who has been the Parish Priest of Ashburton for 38 years, to-day celebrated the Jubilee of his ordination. The Dean was entertained this evening at a large gathering, when lie was presented with an illuminated address and a wallet containing three hundred guineas. The speakers included Bishop Brodie (Christchurch) and Bishop Whyte (Dunedin). Other presentations were made to Dean O’Donnell during the day, including a beautiful chalice and set of vestments from tlie priests of the Diocese. ' Associated with the Jubilee was the laying of the foundation stone of a new church for Ashburton, which is to cost £II,BBO by Bishop Brodie last Sunday. Prior to his coming to Canterbury, Dean O’Donnell was stationed in Westland.
