ELECTRIC SYSTEM
QUESTION OF CONTROL
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, June 25
The time has arrived for the establishment of a commission of control of the National Electric system and disestablishment of political control, declared Mr Dean (Chairman of Franklin Power Board) at Pukekohe. The industry has become too large for sectional control by the Public Works Department, and in any case electrical generation and control should not he the function of that Department. A deplorable example of political control has just been reported. I refer to the stopping and starting of work upon exploration tunnels at Arapuni by outside politicians. How far political intrigue has been penetrating the electrical policy of the country during the last few years it is difficult to estimate.
The hoard decided to urge the electro branch of the Public Works Department he placed under electric supply commission.
