Tremendous damage was dune in Hunter Valley by the floods. The roads have become canals and a motor boat made an extensive tour of what normally was dry ground. Many residents of Hexham spent Thursday night on their roofs tops. Tlicv were roscured by flood boats.

Another family was pitked up exhausted after spending the night on a floating haystack. Many isolated north coast! towns have been without supplies for days, ’i liey will receive necessities by aeroplanes, which left .Sydney yesterday.

THE STORM IN ENGLAND

LONDON, June 20

An astonishing recovery lias been made from yesterday’s disaster at Ascot. Thousands of men were employed to clear up the mess resulting from tlie floods. Assisted by the brightness or 'the sunshine .they restored the course to its customary gaiety.
