CHRISTCHURCH, June 19. “This meeting, recognising that the

The foregoing resolution was passed this evening at a conference between a Special Committee of the City Council ; the members of the staff, and Council employees; which meeting was held to consider the proposal in a resolution carried at last meeting of the City Council 'lor the introduction of the 44 hours working week for the (pb.uiicißs employees, the,' purpose of Djis being to the unemployment.';
The meeting was boycotted by larger 'groups of employees of the City Council.

According to a statement by the Labour Minister to-dav. 6,623 unemployed were registered in the Dominion at the week, ending June 16th ; 2.766 with dependents, 2.497 without. The total shows an increase of 196 over the previous week, Auckland, with dependents 772. without ill; Wellington 339 and 364: Christchurch •620 ap'd 399: Dunedin 166 and ISO;Invereaygifl 90 and 56. ‘ -'- ,
