THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
THE RAILWAYS; COALMISSION,
The personnel of the Railways Commission is fairly satisfactory. There are two business men, an accountant, an engineer, and an ex-railway servant. Criticism will probably centre on the .selection of Mr R. AV. AlcVilly, formerly General Alanager of Railways. Mr AlcVilly, a man of forceful personality, is identified with the old railway regime, and it will be feared that he may dominate the Commission. It is oiily fair to Air AlcVilly to say; that; as General Alaiiager lie was no-t - a free agent, and that he himself recommended the working of the .railway system on 1 a commercial basis, but we are not sure that the appointment is a happy one.
