The general committee of the above met at the Club rooms, Soldiers’ Hall, at 8.45 o’clock hist evening. Present: Messrs Evans (President), Menzios. Armstrong, Appleton, Bade. Lynch. Bleach, Stuart, Gifih.ri.st, Brown, File and Paterson (hon. sec.)

Messrs Appleton, Lynch and Patc-r----spn were a] pointed a sub-committee (if draft rules for the Branch. ; The, secretary detailed particulars of a'cash purchase system in satisfactory service ill other centres whereby tradesmen granted special discounts for cash oil goods purchased by financial members of the Association. It was pointed'out’there was a considerable saving on the year’s buying and the adoption of the' system tended to maintain membership as being a direct incentive tb retain financial connection with the organisation. It was resolved to hold the matter over for the present till the membership was stronger, assuring better terms with the tradespeople. The meeting then proceeded to consider the remits for the annual conference of delegates at Wellington on June 24th. when the local branch will be represented by fill’ R-. Paterson. Matters considered were notices of motion affecting the adoption of the rehabilitation report; amendments to the Pensions Act, unemployment, the disposal of war funds, defence and land matters, and the New Zealand manufacture of poppies.
The committee revised the rents for the use of the hall, and arranged for the cleaning.
, it was resolved the committee meet monthly on the third Monday in each month, and following the next meeting a social reunion of ex-servicemen be held. This will fall on the 21st. July- • ' , - , . The matter of securing the help oi the ladies with regard to benevolent work was referred to the President to ascertain what could be arranged. It was decided io prosecute an active campaign for an increased membership. borne local administrative matters were referred to the Secretary to enquire into while in Wellington. It was reported that the War Pensions Board was expected here on the 19th. prox. It was decided to ask the Registrar of War Pensions at Greymonth to visit here prior to that date and finalise local applications to place before the Board. The meeting rose at 9.20 p.m.
