TARIFF BILL

NEW YORK, June 14
The passage of the Tariff Bill has reacted on all markets. To-day stocks showed ' a persistent liquidation, with short sidling during a two hour session. Several prominent issues, including International telephone and telegraph and Anaconda Copper shares fell even below the panic quotations of last November. w A fear of retaliation by foreign countries and foreign metallurgical interests has reacted on copper stock. The commodity markets have also showed the effects of the situation. For the first time for over two years, the July wheat went below one dollar per hushed. Other grains and provisions followed s'dt.
The cotton futures have declined fifty-five points, with heavy selling orders reported from abroad. \ Chicago report says 'hat it is understood that the Association of Commerce, representing two hundred thousand prominent citizens, will address an appeal to General Dawes, who arrived from London yesterday, to assume the leadership of a drive to clean up vicious conditions in what has been termed “Chicago’s direct hour of need.” General Dawes is looked upon as an ideal “man of iron” to captain forces of society and fl-i-'A --- the city’s underworld menace. so a hope is held of his acceptance of the post in view of the fact that he is directing, work for the 1933 Chicago 'Worlds Fair.
A meeting will be held on Monday of directive heads of various civil and private bodies for mapping a eamoaign against gang lawlessness, and it is believed an invitation to General Dawes ninv then be issued. WASHINGTON, June 14.
The United States House to-day adopted a conference amendment to the Tariff Bill, which now goes to the president. The Administration leaders of both Houses believe that President Hoover will sign the measure.
