In the county cricket, Middlesex in the first innings against Essex scored 204. Newman made 110 not out. In the second innings Middlesex made 242. Hearns scoring 93. Essex in the first made 420, O’Connor scoring 104 and Russell 102; and in the second made 90 for one wicket. Essex won bv nine wickets.

Against Northants, Derby in the first made 214, Clark taking 5 for (58; and in the second 123. Matthews taking 4 for 27. Northants in the first made 93, Mitchell taking 0 for 28, and in the second 173. Derby won bv 71 runs.

Gloucester in tbe first against Kent made 198, Freeman taking (i for 97; and in the second 245. Dacrc scoring 51, and Freeman taking 8 for 101. Kent in the first made 170, Parker taking G for 74; and m the second 150, Parker taking 5 for 28. Gloucester won by 117 runs. Leicester in the first against Surrey made 275, Armstrong making 147 and A Mom taking 4 for 54; and in tbe second 99, Gregory taking 5 for 34. Surrey in the first made 168, Sandham scoring 76, and Gearv taking 4 lor 17: and in the second 104. Astill taking 7 for 32. Leicester won by 102 runs. Yorkshire against Warwick made 364 for nine wickets and declared, Mitchell scoring 76; and in the second 2 for 100. Warwick in the first made 14S, Robinson taking 5 tor 41. They followed on and made 314, Santall being 105 not out. Yorkshire won by eight- wickets. Lancashire , in the first against Sussex made 308. Hopman -coring 82 and Bowley taking 5 for 79. Sussex in the first made 141, Hodgson taking 5 for 35. They followed on and lost 7 for 173. Lancashire won on the first innings.
